With a home-based business here at Town & Country Cleaning Services, Christmas pervades the entire home and business. The cookies are (mostly) baked, the carols sung and resung, the garlands and ribbons are strung. As seems true every year, my ‘spare’ time for writing personal notes and cards celebrating the season aligns with the same timing of Santa’s sleigh — in just the ‘Nick’ of time.
We’ll pack the car to head off for our elder daughter’s home in Connecticut, leaving our ferocious guard dogs, our CPI system and some kind pet sitters in charge. It’s so quiet during those rare days when the daily hum of the business grinds to a complete halt. Our staff will enjoy a few days of true vacation time. Our wish for all — our employees, our clients and our vendors — is to experience the full joy of this season. May you also know how grateful we are for your loyalty, year after year.
At our Staff Christmas Party at Breadmen’s Restaurant (where they did a great job for us!) last Friday, we handed out gifts along with roses and an extra gift to our longest-term staff members. We noted that there are many cleaning companies in this great nation who measure their employees’ longevity in numbers of months, with two and three-year terms for the ‘old-timers’. We are grateful that many of our employees’ tenure can be measured in years, and in several cases, in a full decade and years beyond that. That’s also true for a significant number of our customers and vendors – maybe that’s more than a coincidence. Thank you all — Town & Country Cleaning would not exist without you! As Tiny Tim would say: God bless us all, every one.
